What began as a simple guesthouse has developed over the years and decades into a four-star hotel. Today we are proud to offer guests a modern yet traditional backdrop for holidays in Lech am Arlberg. One thing that has remained the same is our unique location in the heart of the Alps – and, of course, our genuinely warm welcome.
Your hosts, the Schuster family, will be happy to answer any questions you have and provide tips on the best things to see, do and explore in both summer and winter – from skiing and snowboarding to biking and hiking, the list of activities here in the great outdoors of the Lech Valley goes on and on and on. The personal touch
The Hotel Schranz may be a modern four-star hotel, but if you look closely you will find a few elements indicating the long and distinguised history of our building. A good example is the wood panelling in the dining room, which was originally in a different building and transferred to the new hotel when it was built. The old cupboard and restored table are also two items preserved by Eugen Schranz, who set up the original Hotel Schranz decades ago.

Then and now
The origins of the Hotel Schranz are most likely found in a guesthouse located on the site where our hotel stands today. The earliest mention of an inn on this site is from 1780.
"We live in a beautiful part of the world." This was a sentiment shared by Eugen Schranz when he inherited his parents’ farm, including a traditional farmhouse which he converted in the 1950s and 1960s together with his father Leo Schranz to create the Hotel Schranz.
The cows and pigs were moved to a new building. Where the barn had once stood, Eugen built with his bare hands the first part of what would later become the Hotel Schranz. The family then moved from the original farmhouse building into a new one – and their former home was also torn down by Eugen to make way for the second part of his project. Once all the building work had been completed, Eugen and his wife Erna welcomed their first guests to what was known at the time as the Frühstückspension Schranz.
New look, same values. Our hotel has continued to grow and improve over the years without losing sight of the principles and values which have shaped it since the start.
